About The Position

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing Roadway Design team in Overland Park, Kansas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced roadway engineer who is looking to contribute to meaningful transportation projects as part of a 100% employee-owned company. At Lochmueller, you'll partner with a talented team of transportation professionals on a variety of roadway and transportation projects serving local municipalities, counties, and state DOT’s, primarily MoDOT and KDOT. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of roadway/highway design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience preparing roadway plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports.
  • Strong communication, organization, and project coordination skills.
  • Commitment to quality, client service, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation projects.
  • Perform roadway engineering analyses and design; prepare calculations, plans, specifications, estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Apply roadway design standards, criteria, and engineering best practices in the development of transportation improvements.
  • Develop and review roadway designs utilizing OpenRoads Designer and other applicable design software.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop high-quality solutions that meet client objectives and project requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proposals for roadway engineering assignments.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, permit documentation, and other project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders throughout project development and delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and task direction to early-career engineers, technicians, and design staff.
