About The Position

Garver is seeking an entry-level Roadway Project Engineer to join our growing Transportation Team in Franklin, TN. Responsibilities include assisting in the design and creation of construction documents for various transportation projects. This involves typical sections, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, safety features, and maintenance of traffic plans. Assignments also include drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates. The role involves training and managing younger engineers and technicians, and offers opportunities to be involved in marketing aspects of project procurement. Garver provides a mentoring process to facilitate professional development from the start.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) or the ability to become a EIT or EI within 1 year of employment
Strong communication skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office

Nice To Haves

Previous experience or internship in consulting engineering with a primary focus on transportation projects
Experience with Microstation and Inroads/Open Roads
Familiarity with AASHTO's highway and traffic publications

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
Work on roadway design components including typical sections, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans.
Produce construction documents including drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.
Train younger engineers.
Manage task assignments for younger engineers and technicians.
Be involved in marketing aspects of project procurement.
Participate in Garver's mentoring process.
