About The Position

This role involves performing routine and on-call maintenance of roadway and roadside assets for Volusia County with FDOT. The position offers a steady, full-time schedule with no prior experience required, as training is provided on the job. Employees become part-owners of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and have a path for growth, including obtaining a CDL or gaining equipment experience for higher-paid roles.

Requirements

Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record (2+ years of safe driving history)
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Comfortable with physical, outdoor work: standing, walking on uneven ground, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly (up to 75 lbs. occasionally)
Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in roadway, landscaping, drainage, or construction maintenance.
FDOT MOT certification or willingness to obtain it.
Valid CDL (Class A or B) and/or experience operating mowers, skid steers, or maintenance equipment.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform mowing, edging, trimming, litter and debris pickup, sweeping, and general cleanup.
Clean and maintain drainage structures, inlets, pipes, and ditches.
Assist with asphalt and pothole/pavement repairs, including material handling and patching support.
Repair, straighten, or replace damaged signs, posts, guardrails, and roadside hardware.
Set up, monitor, and break down MOT in accordance with FDOT standards and the approved Traffic Control Plan.
Safely operate hand and power tools and assigned equipment.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and report equipment issues.
Document completed work as directed.
Follow all CMTI safety policies, FDOT specifications, and applicable OSHA requirements.
