About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Roadway Field Inspector to join the Georgia Maintenance Engineering and Inspections Team. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting asset condition assessments along the roadway in Southwest Georgia in association with the Maintenance Rating Program. Assets inspected include shoulders, conveyances, drains, guardrails, cable rails, and signs, among others. The results of these inspections help determine the level of maintenance provided on these assets. This role is part of the Global Mobility Business Area, which partners with clients globally to design thriving and connected cities and communities. The team addresses evolving demands from a growing population by designing connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean MVR report.
  • Physically fit, nimble, and enjoys working outdoors.
  • Ability to drive for long distances.
  • Ability to walk 4 or more miles.
  • Physically capable of heavy lifting (e.g., storm sewer and manhole covers) or traversing slopes to locate drainage assets.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and organized.
  • Comfortable working alone.
  • Familiarity with technology, including mobile applications and network hotspots.
  • Detail-oriented to follow inspection protocols in the MRP Field Assessment Manual and precise data entry protocols in the MRP Application Manual and emailed instructions.
  • Health and Safety Conscious, including maneuvering amongst biological hazards, walking along rough/uneven terrain, working in remote areas, and on the shoulder of heavily traveled roadways.
  • Ability to navigate a laptop for office tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in roadway maintenance or roadway construction inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and comprehending the MRP Field Assessment Manual and MRP Application Manual.
  • Conducting asset condition assessments along the roadway and entering data into the mobile-based application in accordance with the manuals.
  • Working independently and managing time efficiently.
  • Walking the length of the roadway (approximately 10 miles), traversing sloped terrain to locate and inspect assets.
  • Clearing vegetation as needed to access and provide clear photos of the assets.
  • Driving 1-2 hours to inspection sites (included in paid time).
  • Maintaining provided field equipment, mobile device, and fleet vehicle to company standards.
  • Following established maintenance protocols.
  • Communicating with peers and office members as needed.
  • Completing office tasks using a laptop, including Microsoft Office for email communication and web-based HR tasks and trainings.
