About The Position

STV has an immediate need in our North Carolina offices for a Roadway Engineer in our Transportation division. The successful candidate will provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and NCDOT. This role involves managing design, providing senior-level functional designs, and ensuring quality control for roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure. The engineer will interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams. Design experience using MicroStation, Geopak, and experience in Open Roads (ORD) is a plus. The role requires coordinating design development and providing technical direction to other design staff, ensuring quality deliverables within schedule and budget. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports, as well as working with practice and office leadership, client development, business development, and industry participation. The engineer will facilitate and lead project meetings, create and maintain scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, sub agreements, QC records, deliverable submittments, and invoices. Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers, and mentoring supporting Civil design staff are also key aspects of this position. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a comprehensive understanding of pre-construction project management of roadway and bridge projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design or bridge design.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • NC PE license is required.
  • Experience in project management and design of intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities.
  • Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience using MicroStation, Geopak.
  • Experience in Open Roads (ORD) is a plus.
  • Experience with using Open Roads Designer is a plus.

Responsibilities
