About The Position

As a Roadway Engineer, you will conduct work on transportation projects, including but not limited to traffic operations and safety, roadway design, bridge design, transportation planning, and environmental work. You will prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for major and minor projects. This role involves preparing and reviewing preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates, and making recommendations for additions, deletions, and substitutions when modifications are necessary. You will also participate in contract bidding and administration, as needed. The engineer will produce the design and monitor the ongoing progress of a project, including coordination with city, state, and county officials and other outside agencies. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project, and coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff. Communication and interaction with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others will be crucial to resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements). Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • A minimum of 4 years of roadway design experience (preferably in Georgia)
  • An EIT certification (required)
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and/or MicroStation, and Microsoft Office.
  • Genuine curiosity, creativity, and a collaborative spirit

Nice To Haves

  • PE licensure preferred
  • DOT project experience (strongly preferred)
