About The Position

AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to support and oversee a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects within the Orlando, Florida region. This role will be responsible for providing technical expertise, leadership, and construction engineering inspection support to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months
  • Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
  • Familiarity with FDOT plan production and design criteria

  • Demonstrates strong judgment in proactively identifying and solving routine and non-routine operational challenges, establishing operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidance across diverse engineering functions
  • Experience with Bentley Open Roads and 3D Modeling
  • Ability to design typical sections, alignments, plan and section drawings
  • Ability to lead small teams to complete projects
  • Performs independent technical reviews with knowledge of multiple disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Serves as senior technical resource and technical advisor for assigned projects and team members
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design work within the specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by others
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and provides constructive technical feedback
  • Serve as an Engineer of Record for small to medium size transportation improvment projects
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Applies expertise throughout all steps of completing the discipline component of PS&E packages
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Prepares and reviews technical specification sections for completeness and compliance
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements
  • Mentors junior engineers and technical staff to support professional development and knowledge transfer
  • Manages client and stakeholder communications regarding technical matters and project status
  • Ensures compliance with FDOT design criteria, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery
  • Leads small to mid-sized project teams and coordinates efforts across multiple disciplines
  • Performs independent technical reviews demonstrating knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and innovation in design methodologies and project delivery
