About The Position

Consor is seeking a Roadway / Drainage Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced transportation professionals on roadway, highway, drainage, and multimodal projects for ADOT, counties, and municipalities. We're looking for a motivated engineer who is eager to learn, develop technical skills, and gain experience across both roadway and drainage disciplines. Whether your long-term interests ultimately lead you toward roadway design, drainage engineering, or a combination of both, you'll have the opportunity to build a strong foundation while contributing to projects that make a lasting impact on Arizona communities.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of transportation, roadway, drainage, or civil engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with engineering design principles and industry standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HY-8, or similar engineering software is a plus.
  • Internship or co-op experience with a consulting engineering firm, DOT, municipality, or public agency.
  • Exposure to roadway, highway, drainage, stormwater, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with ADOT standards and specifications.
  • Experience preparing engineering plans, calculations, or technical reports.
  • Participation in ASCE, ITE, ACEC, or similar professional organizations.
  • Interest in developing expertise in roadway design, drainage design, transportation project delivery, and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Support roadway and drainage design for transportation projects.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design development.
  • Prepare roadway alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and construction plans.
  • Assist with stormwater, drainage, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses.
  • Prepare quantities, cost estimates, exhibits, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, structures, survey, and utility teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support project delivery from planning and preliminary design through final design and construction support.
  • Assist with quality reviews and adherence to ADOT and local agency standards.
