About The Position

The primary purpose of the Roadside/Mobile Technician is to ensure an extraordinary client experience while creating client advocates. The Roadside Technician will ensure client loyalty and satisfaction by providing clients with convenient and timely responses to requests for roadside assistance. This role involves performing light service on client vehicles, adhering to manufacturer guidelines for warranty repairs, and responding to dispatched requests in a timely and professional manner. The technician will also communicate with the call center, monitor traffic and vehicle mileage, and maintain the service vehicle. Additionally, the role includes managing parts inventory, handling after-hours service calls, performing basic maintenance on the service truck, and utilizing the company computer system for diagnostics and documentation. The technician will also advise customers on future service needs and participate in training.

Requirements

  • Beginning knowledge of diagnosis, removal and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
  • Ability to perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
  • Ability to examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments.
  • Ability to advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.
  • Willingness to participate in training and utilize that training in the course of work.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Adheres to guidelines as outlined by Manufacture Service Center regarding replacing and repairing items covered by vehicle warranty.
  • Responds to all requests in timely and professional manner as dispatched by call center.
  • Communicates with the call center department through dispatch radio and telephone to ensure clients are taken care of in a timely manner.
  • Monitors local traffic situations to expedite response time for clients.
  • Monitors the mileage of roadside vehicles.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of roadside vehicles and ensures they are in neat and clean condition.
  • Maintains strict adherence to dealership policy on client vehicle care and operation.
  • Assists with preparation and filing of service documents.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
  • Manage service truck parts inventory.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and be available for an open work schedule.
