Road-Temporary Worker
About The Position
Employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all labor duties assigned by department personnel. Tasks include but are not limited to: Maintenance of transfer stations; compactor sites and waste containers. Routine servicing and preventative maintenance of assigned equipment. Assist in chip sealing operations; mowing of right-of-way; Vector and Weed Management Operations. Assistance in cattle guard and culvert installations and maintenance. Maintenance and assistance in shop, welding, tire center, buildings and grounds. Assist in the Road Administration office, Purchasing office and Engineering Technician office. Employee must perform all related work as required and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- No experience necessary.
- Valid N.M. driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral instructions.
- Able to use proficiently any machines and/or tools.
- Interact with occupants of the County buildings and the general public in a professional and friendly manner.
- Work independently using good judgment and decision making skills.
- Work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations.
- Know and understand County Personnel Policy as well as all county and departmental policies pertinent to the position.
- Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record, be punctual and meet established deadlines.
- Comply with all safety guidelines of Chaves County.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to obtain a Class “A” Driver’s license.
