Performs skilled work in rights-of-way (ROW) maintenance, roadway maintenance, and manufacturing of traffic control devices, including signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, and basic repair of potholes. Duties include the performance of manual labor tasks. The role involves skilled labor in construction or repair of ROW maintenance, roadway maintenance, and maintenance on County-owned or County maintained properties. Tasks include repairing holes in paved or unpaved roads, installing and removing road signs, clearing vegetation, utilizing heavy equipment for demolition and debris removal, installing and repairing traffic control devices, performing minor concrete repairs, operating various powered machinery, investigating and reporting line of sight concerns, performing sign and road marking inspections using MUTCD guidelines, designing and laying out routine traffic operations projects, maintaining equipment, mixing paint for highway marking, operating striping machines and street sweepers, inspecting and repairing traffic signals, shoveling excavations, sweeping and blowing debris, and handling dead animals on roadways. The position also assists in the collection of residential solid waste, loading waste, scheduling pickups, and preparing solid waste sites. In emergencies, the position must respond to recovery duties and perform on-call duties at any time. The role requires regular physical attendance and the ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
