About The Position

The Road Foreman will direct, instruct, assist, and supervise a large road crew within the Road Department. This role involves checking methods, procedures, standards of performance, policies, discipline, and safety of workers. The road department is responsible for the maintenance of county roads using a variety of equipment, and the foreman must have operating knowledge of all equipment used. The position requires operating a motor grader for various base materials, maintaining and establishing road profiles to grades and blue tops. Hand-operated tools are also utilized. The employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision and may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, be on-call, and perform other duties as assigned. Compliance with safety guidelines, passing a new-hire physical and drug screen, and no illegal drug use within the last three years are mandatory. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The Road Manager/ Sr. Superintendent, Road Manager, and Landfill Manager all have equal authority to direct the work schedule at any time.
