About The Position

The RN First Assistant (RNFA) provides direct patient care in the surgical environment and collaborates with the surgeon and other team members to support optimal patient outcomes. During the intraoperative phase, the RNFA works under the surgeon’s direct supervision. While functioning as an RNFA, the RNFA may not concurrently function as the Scrub Nurse.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards.
Credentialing by the CHS Medical Staff Office as an Allied Health Professional and privileges to perform RN First Assistant standardized procedures.
At least 1 year of relevant experience in the area of specialty.
Current, valid Registered Nurse license to work in California.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 180 days of hire or transfer into the position.
Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) certification from the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI).
