About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Emergency Department at Scotland Memorial Hospital. The role involves providing direct patient care, performing assessments, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. The position requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures, effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. The RN will also be responsible for managing patient care in various situations, including emergencies and conscious sedation. The role emphasizes a caring culture, focusing on both patient and employee well-being.

Requirements

  • Current NC or Multistate RN licensure
  • CPR certification
  • PALS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Aegis De Escalation Training (within 3 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Nationally recognized certification in Emergency Medicine
  • 1 Year RN Experience in Hospital Setting, Preferably ER or Critical Care
  • TNCC certification
  • ENPC certification

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates expertise in the application of the nursing process, including age-specific competency and family involvement.
  • Performs and documents accurate and ongoing assessments of physical and psychosocial problems of patients.
  • Performs nursing actions and interventions according to established plans and policies, including administering medications and managing IV conscious sedation.
  • Facilitates continuity of care by coordinating with other healthcare team members and evaluating treatment effectiveness.
  • Promotes patient dignity, privacy, and a therapeutic environment, delivering care in a non-judgmental and sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proper utilization of information management systems.
  • Implements planned teaching interventions and demonstrates competency in nursing care actions.
  • Accepts responsibility for intervention in emergency situations and functions appropriately under stress.
  • Evaluates and modifies the plan of care based on patient responses and outcomes.
  • Assures open and timely communication with patients, families, and team members.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel regarding patient care status.
  • Acts as a liaison to patients and families, providing accurate information.
  • Gives comprehensive reports on patients to other healthcare members and oncoming shift members.
  • Communicates with paramedics during radio contact.
  • Maintains an environment that promotes safety for associates and patients, including fall prevention and hazard correction.
  • Adheres to standards of practice, develops new knowledge and skills, and assists other staff.
  • Displays willingness to adjust schedule to meet crisis situations.
  • Demonstrates management and leadership skills, including assisting in orientation, delegating responsibilities, functioning independently, and contributing to cost-effective unit resource management.
