About The Position

The professional nurse provides patient- and family-centered care by using the nursing process to address each patient's physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs. The nurse develops individualized plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, respecting their cultural beliefs and values. This role is part of the Float Pool at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery and is scheduled for day shifts.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a specialized diploma.
Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice and the ability to collaborate respectfully with patients, families, and designated care partners in care planning.
Cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
Effective communication skills, including accurately conveying and interpreting information and needs, engaging patients and families as partners, and delegating respectfully.
Knowledge and ability to assess patients' ailments and injuries and implement treatment plans.
Knowledge of child and adult education techniques and ability to identify learning needs and educate patients and care partners about conditions, treatment, medications, and recovery.
Knowledge of medications and ability to administer medications and prescribe drugs for continuing treatment outside the hospital.
Knowledge of post-discharge needs and ability to develop discharge plans and arrange follow-up care with patients and their families or designated care partners.
Knowledge of patient assessment and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgment, including analyzing symptoms and identifying appropriate resolutions.
Knowledge of health information and documentation methods, including recording medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), or completion of a BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, strongly preferred.
One year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.

Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality improvement committees.
Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
