The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of residents in a designated area of the facility. This role involves ensuring the continuum of quality care by communicating effectively with off-going and arriving shifts, making rounds to evaluate residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, and ensuring these needs are met by assigned staff. The RN assesses the ability of assigned staff to provide for resident needs and intervenes as indicated. They supervise the care provided by Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs), offering intervention and education, and making adjustments to assignments as needed. Responsibilities include preparing and administering medications and treatments, consulting with physicians, receiving and transcribing orders, making rounds with physicians when necessary, reviewing and ensuring adherence to resident care plans, and documenting according to facility policy. The RN also participates in employee evaluations and staff meetings/in-services. The Registered Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing.
