About The Position

The RN will assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. This role involves participating in policy development, ensuring compliance with procedures, and contributing to the quality assurance program. The RN will also be involved in resident care planning, admissions, transfers, discharges, and incident reporting.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Knowledge of current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care facilities
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting
  • Understanding of resident care planning and discharge planning
  • Ability to manage admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Skill in completing accident/incident reports
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information
  • Ability to report suspected or known violations of disclosure policies

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Ensure that reference material at nurses’ stations is current and recommend new material as needed.
  • Ensure that the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and reflects daily procedures.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director concerning the operation of the nursing service department.
  • Periodically review department policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions, and recommend revisions.
  • Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with their respective job descriptions.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) as requested.
  • Periodically review and participate in updating the resident’s written discharge plan.
  • Assist the Director in planning the nursing services portion of the resident’s discharge plan.
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan department services, programs, and activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
  • Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
  • Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations.
  • Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system.
