This position involves conducting daily nursing functions in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care facilities and assisted living communities. The role requires ensuring that all assigned nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures, including the safety program. Responsibilities include admitting, transferring, and discharging residents with appropriate documentation, participating in resident and family orientation, and making rounds with healthcare providers as needed. The RN will utilize nursing personnel qualifications according to resident care plans, service plans, and healthcare provider orders. Communication and documentation are key, involving daily rounds, resolving resident and family issues, reporting significant events to supervisors, and participating in facility surveys. The role may also involve managing clinical programs such as dementia care, wound care, quality assurance, infection control, and admissions. Initial assessments and the development and updating of care plans are essential, as is communication with healthcare providers regarding treatment plans and orders. The RN will also manage medication administration, including preparing and administering medications, ensuring adequate supplies, and maintaining accurate records. Personnel functions include supervising nursing units and addressing staff performance issues. Safety and sanitation are critical, requiring the maintenance of clean work areas and resident rooms, and ensuring adequate stock of supplies and medications. The position requires the ability to make independent decisions, communicate effectively, and work with diverse resident populations. The RN must meet all state and federal requirements and possess a current, unencumbered RN license. One year of experience in nursing within a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility is preferred. The role involves supervisory responsibility for ensuring resident care standards are met by CNAs/Caregivers, though they do not directly report to the RN. The working environment may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Physical requirements include walking long distances, standing for extended periods, sustaining repetitive movements, maintaining physical tolerance for 8-12 hour shifts, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Cognitive requirements include executing tasks independently and communicating clearly. All employees are expected to follow facility policies and procedures.
