About The Position

The James L. West Center for Dementia Care is the preeminent provider of dementia care services in North Texas. We are a single site facility, specializing in dementia care. We have 100 beds in five separate living areas, and we have been blessed to continue to have a high census! We are committed to high staffing ratios ensuring that you are able to provide the best care possible. Our staff chose to move to 12-hour shifts to provide a better balance between work and home. Our employee teams consistently work together so you get to know your teammates as well as you know your residents. We have bi-weekly calls so that our employees hear directly from the administrative team regarding COVID-19 updates and policy changes. We also offer a wide variety of benefits for our employees to choose from. We currently have full-time openings on our day shift which is 7:00am - 7:15pm. Night Shift is 7:00pm - 7:15am.This is a 2-week rotating schedule allowing for every-other weekend off work. We are a non-profit company, so all the money paid by our residents is spent right here in our facility. We average between 65-70% of our revenue is spent on wages and benefits for our employees.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
  • None. On-the-job training provided.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LPN/LVN in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with behavioral medicine/dementia care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a residents condition.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be knowledgeable of computers and other office machines.
