About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in Hillcrest Hospital’s 13-bed Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), part of a comprehensive cardiothoracic and vascular program. The unit cares for pre- and post-operative open-heart, thoracic and vascular surgery patients; diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization patients, including those receiving angioplasty, stents, ablations, or pacemaker/internal cardiac defibrillator insertions; and general medical/surgical ICU/CCU overflow patients.

The RN delivers care throughout the patient journey, interacts directly with patients and families, and provides healthcare education. The role works rotating day and night shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., including every other weekend and holiday.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of current acute care RN experience; military RN experience will be considered.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of employment.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
