About The Position
This role is within the VBH Centra Specialty, a 26-bed Long Term Care Hospital specializing in the care of medically complex patients requiring extended hospitalization and advanced clinical care. Typical cases include individuals recovering from critical illness who need ongoing respiratory support, complex wound care, intravenous therapies, cardiac monitoring, dialysis, and comprehensive rehabilitation services. The unit utilizes the LEAF system for patient monitoring and repositioning, and provides bedside dialysis treatments using TABLO dialysis machines. Centra Health is a regional, nonprofit healthcare system in Central Virginia, recognized with its fifth Magnet® designation for nursing excellence. The Wound nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for acute care of patients with integumentary system disorders, providing the full scope of nursing practice including education.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience in wound care
- Knowledge of ostomy and continence care
- Ability to provide education
- Proficiency with LEAF system (wearable patient monitoring technology)
- Experience with TABLO dialysis machines
Nice To Haves
- Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification
Responsibilities
- Serve as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute care of patients with selected disorders of the integumentary systems.
- Provide the full scope of nursing practice related to wound care, including education, based on certification and professional education.
