About The Position

The PRN Registered Nurse will provide patients support, education, and assistance in the prevention and/or maintenance of their disease and/or health and wellness state and will work with the individual patient, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans, and provide support to the patient in self-management. Coordinate care and/or follow-up for patients who receive care in outpatient clinics. Coordination of prescription refill requests and patient education coordination in collaboration with physician staff. The RN will develop a specialty in patient care related to the clinic's populations and acts as a resource. The RN will work with the providers and clinical staff to implement innovative approaches and set priorities to meet patient/family needs. Commitment to patient outcomes results in high levels of performance despite workload changes. PRN Nurses will report to an assigned Clinical Services Manager PRN Applicant’s Work history will be screened to match the position in which they have applied for. PRN Maximum allowable hours in a floating year is 1000.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree, ADN Degree, or Diploma RN. Major: Registered Nurse.
  • RN with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Valid Arkansas Registered Nursing License

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification or obtain certification within one year of hire date.
  • Knowledge or experience in PCMH desired.
  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards.
  • Adheres to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.
  • Collects and documents assessment data.
  • Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
  • Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.
  • Acts as a resource/supports others.
  • Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
  • Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
