About The Position

Known for its continuous clinical trials and cancer research, the Taussig Cancer Center ensures all patients receive top-quality patient care and have access to the newest advances in cancer treatment. The G110 Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is dedicated to the care of patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant for a diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other cancers. The highly skilled G110 caregivers assist with giving patients high dose chemotherapy followed by autologous, allogeneic, umbilical cord or nonmyeloablative transplant. This unit also provides treatment of graft versus host disease and symptom management for chronic patients. This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour day shift during the week. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • ONS Chemo/Bio course completed within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
