About The Position

The Weekend Manager is responsible for providing leadership to the nursing staff by overseeing the daily operations of the Nursing Department. This role involves a combination of administrative duties, direct patient care, and supervision of nursing assistants.

Requirements

  • Valid Nursing license in the state where the facility is located.
  • Responsible for meeting the state-required continuing education hours per licensure period.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Have a sincere desire to work with the elderly.
  • Must be willing to perform non-professional duties.
  • Must be level-headed and take or give direction in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to place patient needs above own desires or judgment.
  • Must always serve as a patient advocate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to nursing staff by overseeing the daily Nursing Department operations.
  • Carry out administrative and patient care duties as part of their shift responsibilities.
  • Supervise and assume responsibility for the actions and care delivered by the STNA’s.
  • Abide by department policies and procedures and interpret them to personnel, medical staff, patients, and the public.
  • Willing to work on the unit designated by the D.O.N, A.D.O.N, or Supervisor.
  • Check 24-hour report sheet for changes/updates in patient care needs for the day.
  • Make walking rounds and supervise the N.A. care delivered.
  • Administer medication (including IV) and treatment per Physician orders specific to the patient.
  • Attempt to meet the spiritual or psychological needs of the patient with available resources.
  • Assist and direct in the admission/discharge process of patients.
  • Give and receive report at the beginning and change of shift to oncoming staff.
  • Take and transcribe physician orders.
  • Answer telephone inquiries.
  • Evaluate patient care needs and condition, and develop or add to existing plans of care for individual patients.
  • Manage the admission process of patients in the event the documentation nurse is not available.
  • Manage the transfer and discharge of patients.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in the patient electronic medical record.
  • Direct and assist with department cleaning and care of equipment/appliances.
  • Communicate and work with all departments.
  • Ensure overall safety and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Greet and direct visitors on the unit.
