The IV Therapy team at MGH is a highly skilled group of nursing professionals who provide a key clinical service to our patients. Members of the health care team collaborate to achieve the universal goal of safe, effective, and appropriate infusion therapy and vascular access. Nurses perform independent nursing interventions related to infusion therapy and vascular access using appropriate clinical reasoning, nursing judgment, and critical decision-making skills. This role serves as the primary response team for vascular access needs, including intraosseous insertions during rapid responses and codes. RN’s are highly valued by the staff nurses whom they support and partner with. Opportunities for growth and development are available, along with supportive nursing leadership, competitive pay, and excellent benefits. RN’s on this team are happy and practice at the top of their license. Staff benefit from continuing education called “Teaching Tuesdays”! Staff in this subspecialty provide education to and build relationships throughout the hospital. The depth of experience of many members of this team is significant, and many members of the staff hold positions in various IV/Infusion/Vascular Access Nursing associations.
