About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated RN Vaccination Coordinator for their Pediatrics department. This role involves administering vaccinations and medications, maintaining vaccination records, reporting to the State Department of Health for the Vaccine For Children program, and managing monthly decrement tracking. The coordinator will also handle phone triage, patient inquiries, prescription refills, and serve as a resource and patient advocate within the clinic. This position requires clear communication of the organization's mission and values and adherence to all applicable laws and policies.

Requirements

  • Current Indiana RN licensure and CPR certification required.
  • At least 1 year of previous nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers injections or medications as directed by the physician/provider and obtains lab specimens.
  • Maintains and tracks all vaccinations and injectable medication in office.
  • Reports all required documentation to the State Department of Health for the Vaccine For Children program.
  • Reports monthly decrement tracking on all VFC vaccine.
  • Reviews monthly POC reporting and educates staff as needed.
  • Answers telephone inquiries and concerns from patients, pharmacies, third parties, and other providers regarding prescriptions, formulary, orders, symptoms, medications, and insurance.
  • Accurately records and charts key information and planned response.
  • Responds within limits of licensure, training and supervising physician’s protocols.
  • Works with physicians to define credible expectations for response time.
  • Performs phone triage when scheduled, including fielding patient medical questions, test results, medication refills and call-backs to patients as directed by physician or requested by patient.
  • Faxes/calls/electronically transmits prescription refills as requested.
  • Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians and staff; greets them promptly and courteously.
  • Assumes role of patient advocate respecting the guidelines found in Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Communicates with patient, significant others and health professionals regarding care to patient.
  • Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of JMH.
  • Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site Physician and/or the JMH Administration.
  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
