About The Position

Thompson Health is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse (RN) to work in their Urgent Care Centers. This role offers 8-12 hour shifts, including some weekend requirements, across Canandaigua, Farmington, and Newark locations. The position is ideal for someone seeking a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment where their contributions are valued and integrated into problem-solving. The RN will provide quality nursing care to Urgent Care patients under the supervision of providers and Practice Management, assessing, planning, administering, and documenting care. Responsibilities include assisting providers with patient preparation, such as taking vital signs and explaining procedures, administering prescribed medications and injections, and assisting with minor procedures. The RN will also be responsible for managing results and patient callbacks, ensuring follow-up with patients and providers. Additionally, the RN will contribute to the development and implementation of clinical nursing policies and procedures, working with system personnel to ensure compliance with Joint Commission, NYS DOH, and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse - New York license
  • Maintain current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing
  • 2-4 years of recent nursing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years family practice, urgent care, acute care, occupational medicine or outpatient care nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality nursing patient care to Urgent Care patients under the supervision of the providers and Practice Management
  • Assess, plan, give and document nursing care
  • Assist the provider with patients, including the preparation of examination rooms, preparation of the patient for the visit, such as taking vital signs and explaining procedures
  • Administer medications and injection as prescribed
  • Assist with special procedures, including minor procedures
  • Responsible for completion of all results and patient call backs within the scope of practice, following up with patients and the providers as appropriate
  • Assist in development and implementation of clinical nursing policies and procedures, working with appropriate system personnel to assure clinical operations comply with all Joint Commission, NYS DOH requirements and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
