About The Position

We are seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager to join our Health Services leadership team and oversee our 48-bed Skilled Nursing unit. The RN Unit Manager is a key leader responsible for the coordination, oversight, and quality of nursing care within the skilled nursing unit. This role ensures compliance with all clinical standards, fosters professional growth among nursing staff, and promotes a positive and supportive work environment. The ideal candidate is an empathetic and organized leader with a strong foundation in geriatric nursing, staff development, and regulatory compliance. While the position primarily works during the day shift, flexibility is expected to support staff across all shifts and ensure consistent supervision and leadership coverage. This position also participates in a Registered Nurse on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Current New York State RN license in good standing.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff to ensure exceptional resident care and professional accountability.
  • Oversee clinical operations, including care coordination, assessments, and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous learning aligned with Kendal’s mission and values.
  • Maintain compliance with NYS DOH, CMS, and internal standards of care through ongoing audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized resident care plans.
  • Support staff education and competency development through coaching and collaboration with the Nurse Educator.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care partners to ensure satisfaction and understanding of care plans.
  • Participate in and support survey readiness, infection control, and QAPI activities.
