About The Position

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for maintaining approved standards of resident care throughout the facility and overseeing the quality of nursing care. This role involves delegating direct resident care activities, supervising and evaluating care team members, and resolving unit-level problems. The Unit Manager also communicates resident status to the Director of Nursing, conducts daily rounds, audits charting, ensures physician's orders are followed, handles resident and family concerns, and submits regular reports. Continuous professional development through education is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Current NY State Registered Nurse License
  • 2 years of Nursing Administration experience required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain approved standards of resident care throughout the facility.
  • Oversee the quality of nursing care.
  • Delegate responsibility for direct resident care activities to Head Nurse/Nurse in Charge of each unit.
  • Supervise, evaluate, counsel, and coach care members on assigned units.
  • Identify and resolve problems at the unit level.
  • Keep the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing informed of resident’s status through verbal communication and written reports.
  • Make daily rounds, visit every floor of responsibility, and check acutely ill residents, admissions, and follow up on residents.
  • Perform periodic audits of charting and documentation.
  • Assure proper execution of physician's orders.
  • Deal effectively, professionally, and tactfully with resident and family concerns.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports on statistics, meetings, and other pertinent information.
  • Attend continuing education classes, seminars, workshops to maintain professional competency.
