About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for the Inpatient Surgical Unit. The RN Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, they lead safety and quality initiatives, focus on and simplify workflow, and contribute to the development of staff. This role aims to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service. The Inpatient Surgical Unit experiences a quick turnover of patients and provides care for patients with complex needs across a wide range of surgical specialties, including Vascular, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Orthopedic, Podiatric, Colorectal, Bariatric, Plastic, Gynecologic, and Urologic. The unit works closely with surgeons and the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional postoperative care. In addition to postoperative care, the unit occasionally provides care to patients with general medical needs. This is a full-time position, 36 hours per week, on the night shift.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-state RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
  • Experienced RN with 18 months of nursing experience required.
  • BSN required.
  • ACLS & PALS or ENPC within one (1) year of hire.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree preferred.
  • If the graduate degree is not in nursing, then the BSN is required.
