The Traumatic Brain Injury Unit is a 14-bed unit offering a full continuum of services to meet patient needs. Many patients can make notable gains in cognitive, physical, and psychological skills and quality of life. The interdisciplinary team is specially trained in neurotrauma, brain, and spinal cord injury/rehabilitation. Taylor Hospital is a Magnet-designated hospital serving the area since 1977, offering specialty services including 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility, and full-service radiology. The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patients/families, documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record.
