About The Position

We are seeking an experienced critical care Registered Nurse (RN) to join a team of nurses that use compassion and teamwork to care for critically ill adult patients. You will work in a fast-paced ICU providing care to critically ill surgical, medical, and trauma patients in a Level One Trauma Center. As part of an academic medical center, you will be involved in cutting edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies to improve patient outcomes. You will become an expert in using advanced life support therapies including ECMO and continuous dialysis to care for patients. The team also serves as emergency responders throughout the hospital. In 2024, care teams in the Trauma and Life Support ICU were presented with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Gold Level Beacon Award—the highest honor a critical care unit can achieve. For nurses, this award can mean a positive and supportive work environment with greater collaboration, higher morale and lower turnover.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
  • ACLS within 6 months

Responsibilities
