The future Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a new 14-bed ICU that will provide comprehensive post-resuscitation critical care for patients with complex traumatic injuries. Patients will transition to this unit after initial stabilization in the Emergency Department or Operating Room and receive specialized intensive care throughout their recovery. This unit will require a comprehensive critical care approach that integrates expertise from surgical, neurological, medical, cardiovascular, and trauma specialties. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting
  • Will consider military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Strong critical care backgrounds in medical, surgical and neuro specialties

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
