About The Position

RN Transplant Coordinator participates in and oversees the comprehensive care of the post-transplant recipient. Oversees and directly monitors and supervises assigned staff. Is also responsible for ongoing program development, quality assurance, staff development and promotion of multi-disciplinary program activity. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL DUTIES Oversees and participates in the coordination of care for the pre/post-transplant recipient. Oversees and assists the Transplant Manager in supervision of the pre/post-transplant Coordinators, including interviewing, coaching, orientation, evaluation, and training within established guidelines. Monitors day-to-day operations of assigned staff, reacting effectively and efficiently to unplanned circumstances, demands, and challenges facing the department to ensure consistent quality of service. Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special projects both internal and external to the organization. Maintains a department staffing plan and on-call coverage that meets organizational needs. Demonstrates personal and professional growth and expertise and keeps staff updated by remaining current with state and federal associations and with professional trends, and by participating in community activities. Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates department goals that coincide with the hospital goals on a yearly basis. Develops, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures and assures the department's compliance with all state and federal regulations. Reacts effectively to unplanned circumstances, demands, and challenges facing the department.

Requirements

  • Current Louisiana RN license and CPR certification.
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator with the ABTC
  • Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period.
  • Demonstrated patient teaching skills and compliance with protocol management of patients.
  • Member of NATCO and UNOS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in clinical area of assignment preferred.
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
