About The Position

Join BJC HealthCare as an RN Transfer Center Specialist and expand your impact beyond the bedside while staying rooted in expert clinical triage and decision-making. In this role within the Centralized Patient Transfer Office, you will coordinate patient movement across a 12-hospital network, partnering with internal and external providers to ensure timely access to care. This position is ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in high-volume environments and are seeking system-wide exposure. Following training, the role transitions to a hybrid schedule, with one full week per month worked on-site at the BJC Commons.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • 5–10 years of RN experience in Emergency Department, triage, or similar setting
  • Strong clinical judgment and triage skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • RN license
  • 5-10 years of RN experience
  • Less than 2 years of supervisor experience

Nice To Haves

  • Transfer center or call center experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient transfers across a 12-hospital system
  • Works directly with staff at each client facility to ensure timely access, appropriate bed assignment, and accurate patient information documentation to assist with an appropriate final destination plan of care at receiving facility
  • Utilizes effective and professional communication to act as liaison on behalf of client facilities between physicians, patient/family, hospital staff, and outside agencies.
  • Ensures accurate and concurrent data collection and maintenance of all patient information, and protects such as defined by HIPAA laws and regulations on behalf of client.
  • Demonstrates the ability to process patient acuity utilizing critical thinking, clinical decision making, and acquired knowledge skills to assist in assessing situations and facilitate patient flow across the continuum of care for each facility.
  • Demonstrates the ability to triage and prioritize patient information and communicate an accurate clinical presentation of the patient for accepting physicians and nurses.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
