The Beverly Hospital Emergency Department, located in Beverly, MA, is a Level III Trauma Center, Gold Stroke Certified, and an Emergent Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention Center, serving as the primary entry point for patients needing these services. The department is staffed 24/7 with Emergency Medicine Board Certified Physicians and Mid-Level Clinicians, and a Children’s Hospital Emergency Physician during prime hours. It features 33 private exam rooms across three specialized zones, including two major trauma rooms, six negative pressure rooms, pediatric rooms, fast-track, and a 10-bed secured behavioral health area. The department handles a wide range of emergencies, such as cardiac, pediatric, OBGYN, orthopedic, and respiratory. Security is present in the waiting area, and a 3-room Triage area, staffed 24/7 by a nurse and a Medical Provider during prime hours, is used for rapid interventions, vertical flow, and medical screenings, with triage nurses assigning ESI acuity levels. Ancillary staff include ED Technicians, Administrative Associates, Mental Health Technicians, and Security, supported by BILH Crisis Screeners and Recovery Coach Supports for behavioral health emergencies. The Team Leader is a crucial leadership role within the Emergency Department, responsible for providing developmentally appropriate nursing care and ensuring compliance with the Nursing Division’s philosophy, policies, and standards. This role involves acting as a role model, promoting excellence in patient care, fostering effective teamwork, and demonstrating adaptability to evolving needs.
