As our surgical services nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing care when they are at their most vulnerable. Every day, you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, make sure the equipment is ready to go, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. To be successful in this role, you will assist the surgeon during the actual surgery, applying your surgical nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room. Call is required and is based on shift and patient volume. Our surgical department consists of 8 operating rooms with a designated cardiac and urology suite. The OR suites are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, tables, and equipment. While all service lines are supported, hearts, vascular, major ortho, and neuro spine are the most prominent. The recent addition of the DaVinci Xi will allow this surgery department to provide a high level of care. This collaborative department supports learning and professional growth. We believe in a teamwork approach where each person is respected and valued. We are not currently accepting new graduate or new to specialty applications. The most current information for new graduate (<12 months experience as an RN) and fellowship programs (>12 months experience as an RN) can be found at National Nurse Residency Program. This position is represented by CNA.
