About The Position

As our surgical services nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable. Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. To be successful in this role, you will assist the surgeon during the actual surgery, applying your surgical nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room. Our surgical department consists of 8 operating rooms with a designated cardiac and urology suite. The OR suites are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting tables and equipment. While all service lines are supported hearts vascular major ortho and neuro spine are the most prominent. The recent addition of the DaVinci Xi will allow this surgery department to provide a high level of care. This collaborative department supports learning and professional growth. We believe in a teamwork approach where each person is respected and valued.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months previous acute care RN experience in same unit
• Current and Active Registered Nurse: CA
• AHA Basic Life Support / Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors Of Nursing BSN, upon hire

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
