Caregivers in the Cardiothoracic OR use their in-depth experience to perform complex operations with the newest surgical techniques, equipment and devices, including minimally invasive, off-pump bypass, robotically assisted and percutaneous procedures. As an RN Resident on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. A caregiver in this position works 6-month orientation | Shift after orientation will be 9:00am - 7:30pm| must be able to be on-call with a 1 hour call window.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
