The RN in this role provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the operative setting for both adult and pediatric populations. This position focuses on neuro and spine procedures, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care before, during, and after surgical and other invasive interventions. The RN collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team, maintains a sterile environment, and adheres to established clinical standards and protocols to optimize patient outcomes. A caregiver in this role will work days and require call. Orientation is 6 months working Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. After orientation, an available shift will be 9am-7:30pm. The required call rotation is: 2 call shifts (weeknight or weekend) per month and 1-2 holidays per year.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN)
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
- If performing moderate/procedural sedation, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
- One year RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program

Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
- Performing circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
- Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
- Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
