Cleveland Clinic's Gynecology/Urology Operating Room is dedicated to delivering exceptional surgical care to patients of all ages. This specialized unit performs a wide range of complex procedures, including kidney and uterine transplants, gender-affirming surgeries, hysterectomies, pelvic organ prolapse repairs, prostate cancer surgeries, and advanced robotic-assisted procedures. As a Registered Nurse on this team, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients are safely prepared, supported, and comfortable throughout every stage of their surgical journey—from preoperative care through recovery. Your clinical expertise, attention to detail, and compassionate approach help create a positive patient experience, providing reassurance and comfort during what can often be a challenging and emotional time.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Licensed military RN experience will be considered
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
  • One year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
  • Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
  • Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
  • Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
