About The Position

This is a full-time, benefited, day shift RN OR Supervisor position. It is a salary role working an 8-hour shift, 5 days a week, with hours from 10 am to 6 pm. There is administrative call on rotating weekends and some call on weeknights. The location is at Scripps Chula Vista. This position is eligible for a New Hire Bonus up to $8.5K and includes the Management Incentive Compensation Plan (MICP) at the Supervisor level. As the Supervisor of 4 OR suites (Preop/PACU and Main OR), you will work with the OR team to ensure nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. This role is approximately 30% clinical/70% administrative. You will oversee around 30 employees (RNs, CST, PCAs). Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, you will share leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans, attending meetings, making rounds, and attending to the needs in the department. Also, ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge. Ensures the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to the next appropriate level of care.

Requirements

  • Two years applicable OR clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role.
  • Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Maintains current California RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN and/or certification in area of specialty if applicable.
  • 3-5 years of OR RN experience is preferred
  • 2 years of leadership experience is preferred
  • CNOR certificate
