This role involves utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to care for patients. The RN will perform assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. They will administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice acts. Accurate and comprehensive documentation is essential. The RN will develop, initiate, and execute patient care plans based on individual needs, physician orders, and hospital policy. They will utilize available resources for patient and family education, ensuring the information is at an appropriate level of understanding. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance, is expected. The RN will use clinical expertise to support the patient's longitudinal plan of care across units/departments, resolve systems breakdowns, and engage in problem-solving. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience is crucial, along with appropriate delegation and escalation to the chain of command. The role also involves positively influencing professional and organizational environments, engaging in personal development, and supporting continuous learning and growth opportunities. Peer review and feedback are integral to the role. Clinic and Ambulatory RNs will maintain patient flow, respond to telephone calls, and perform telephone triage. Illinois RNs require 10 hours of continued education for licensure.
