About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating clinical activities for pediatric patients, utilizing nursing process skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing patient care. This role also involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants, while adhering to the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and nursing standards. Registered Nurses in Children’s Services areas are required to float to the NICU. The position supports the goals and objectives of both the department and the hospital.

Requirements

• Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program
• Current LA RN licensure
• Current BLS required upon hire
• PALS is required within 90 days of hire
• Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in an acute Pediatric Inpatient Department preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate clinical activities for the Pediatric patient
• Utilize the nursing process in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient
• Supervise the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants
• Work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures
• Comply with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities
• Support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital
• Float to the NICU (for nursing staff within Children’s Services areas)
