About The Position

The RN Staff Nurse provides patient care in the Radiation Oncology department at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center. The role follows Legacy Health’s patient- and family-focused nursing philosophy, serving as an advocate, communicator, problem-solver, and caregiver. Radiation Oncology supports patients and families coping with cancer through compassionate, integrity-driven care and interdisciplinary teamwork focused on shared goals and evidence-based practice. The nurse works as part of the health care team in collaboration with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee, and follows the Registered Nurse Standards and Scope of Practice and Legacy Health’s patient care standards.

Requirements

• Education as required by licensure.
• One year of registered nursing experience, or completion of the Legacy Health RN Residency program or an equivalent nursing program in content, curriculum, and duration.
• Additional clinical experience requirements may vary by department.
• Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, and the community.
• Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
• Current applicable state RN license.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or a degree in progress is strongly preferred.
• A BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within an assigned department or unit.
• Function as a member of the health care team in collaboration with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee.
• Adhere to relevant Registered Nurse Standards and Scope of Practice.
• Perform all aspects of the nursing process: assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Follow Legacy Health System patient care standards, including standards for patient assessment and patient transfer.
