RN Staff Nurse - Children's ED
About The Position
The RN Staff Nurse provides patient care in an assigned department or unit as a member of the health care team, in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee. The nurse follows applicable Registered Nurse standards and scope of practice and Legacy Health System patient care standards, including standards for patient assessment and transfer. The role involves assessing, analyzing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This position is in the Randall Children’s Emergency Department at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, a regional center providing care for infants, children, and teens. The department emphasizes family-centered, compassionate care, teamwork, autonomy in problem-solving, and play as part of children’s healing and wellness. It has a shared governance system that supports decisions about staffing, practice changes, and education.
Requirements
- Meet education requirements for licensure.
- Have one year of registered nursing experience, or have completed the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program equivalent in content, curriculum, and duration.
- Hold a current applicable state RN license.
- Hold AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, and the community.
- Have keyboard skills and the ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
Nice To Haves
- A BSN or a degree in progress is strongly preferred; a BSN may be required for specific assignments.
- Pediatric ED experience is strongly preferred.
- Adult ED experience or strong pediatric experience may be considered.
