About The Position

Relocation assistance is available for nurses new to Legacy. The Legacy nursing philosophy centers on patients and their families, with nurses acting as advocates, communicators, problem-solvers, and caregivers. Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland is a regional leader in treating serious clinical illness or injury, with expertise in trauma, heart care, burns, significant wounds, stroke, and brain surgery. It is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center serving both adult and pediatric populations. The facility currently has 19 ORs/procedure suites performing approximately 50 cases daily across various adult and pediatric specialties, including cardiovascular, thoracic, neurosurgery, urology, orthopedic, ENT, Burns, OMFS, Plastics, Gynaecology, and robotics. A new Emanuel West tower, including new operating rooms, PACU, Central Sterile, and support areas, commenced construction in July 2018.

Requirements

  • Current applicable state RN license required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required.
  • One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration.
  • Two years of OR RN experience required
  • Ability to scrub preferred.
  • Must be available to meet the 30-minute call time.
  • Call schedule will be every 5th weekend 7AM Sat - 7 AM Monday
  • 3 week nights every 6 weeks 11PM - 7AM
  • Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred.
  • BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
  • Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care within an assigned department/unit
  • Functions as a member of the health care team in collaboration with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee
  • Adheres to the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse
  • Performs all aspects of the nursing process: Assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care
  • Follows established patient care standards set by Legacy Health System, including standards for patient assessment & patient transfer.
