About The Position

Baylor University Medical Center (Baylor Dallas), part of Baylor Scott & White Health, is a major patient care, teaching and research center located in Dallas, Texas. The facility is home to over 20 medical specialty centers. The nursing team is committed to innovation, quality care, and a supportive environment. This specific role is on a newly renovated 30-bed specialty surgical unit, reopening in January 2026, which supports a diverse inpatient surgical population including patients undergoing ear, nose, and throat procedures, jaw reconstruction, complex surgical flap procedures, and other specialized surgeries. The unit boasts a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio and a supportive leadership team focused on learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited (Nursing) Program
  • RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire/transfer
  • 1 year of true, recent (hospital) Med/Surg/Tele RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Support a diverse surgical (inpatient) population, including patients undergoing ear, nose and throat procedures, jaw reconstruction, complex surgical flap procedures, and other specialized surgeries.
  • Provide care in a fast-paced unit with a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled, collaborative team.
  • Contribute to a supportive environment centered on learning, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Participate in unit-based councils and a strong system Nurse Practice Council.
  • Promote Evidence-based practice, research, and innovations in nursing practice.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety using inter-professional collaboration.
