Mercy Hospital features a Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU) designed for babies born at 32 weeks or greater who require specialized care, premature support or monitoring for health concerns. The unit provides 24/7 care, featuring private rooms and kangaroo chairs for skin-to-skin contact. As an RN on this team, you will take care of babies in the Level II NICU as well as cross train in the post-partum area. Here, you will assist with vitals, breathing and feeding support, providing homegoing education to parents and more. Your work helps to provide the best possible outcomes for our littlest patients. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering your education, committee participation and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within one year of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross provider status within one year of hire
  • One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Critical Care and/or NICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
