About The Position

The Pediatric RN will provide professional inpatient nursing care for pediatric and medical-surgical patients within the Navajo Area Indian Service. This role is vital to supporting the IHS mission of providing comprehensive, culturally acceptable health services to American Indian and Alaska Native populations in a rural setting. Requirements

  • Minimum of 24 months of total nursing experience, with at least two (2) years specifically in Pediatric and Medical-Surgical care.
  • A current, valid, and unrestricted nursing license from any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • PICC line dressing changes, Port-a-cath management, chest tube care, and wound vac management.
  • Fentanyl drips, peripheral/total parenteral nutrition, and general RN medication administration.
  • Mastery of HIPAA/Privacy Act standards, EMTALA compliance, and age-specific care competencies.
  • Successful completion of a federal background investigation.
  • Must be US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate individualized patient care plans based on thorough assessments and physical examinations.
  • Observe and document patient conditions, interpreting findings to distinguish between normal and abnormal conditions, and recording reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Provide care for patients with diverse conditions, including diabetes, sepsis, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illnesses, and developmental delays in children.
  • Follow American Heart Association (AHA) algorithms during Code Blue or Rapid Response Team (RRT) events.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, IVACS, high-flow oxygen delivery systems, and phototherapy for newborns.
  • Must be willing to float to other departments as needed, including serving as a patient sitter or assisting with medical transports.
